Certification of the initial installation and regular inspection of electrical installations is a legal requirement and an important prerequisite for preventing risks such as electric shock or fire and protecting human life.
Ergocert Hellas S.A., as an Αccredited certification body, offers initial and periodic inspection services for electrical installations, ensuring their compliance with the applicable technical requirements and legal framework.
Legislative Framework for Electrical Installations
Electrical installations in Greece fall under the national legislation (FEK 470/b/2004, FEK4654/B/2021) and the requirements of standards ELOT 60364, ELOT HD384.
Initial Inspection of Electrical Installations
The initial inspection of an electrical installation is mandatory before the first connection to the power supply or after a significant modification of the installation.
Periodic Installation of Electrical Installations
The periodic inspection of an electric installation is carried out based on the category of the installation (e.g., in resdences, professional spaces, high traffic locations). Indicatively, the maximum periods for reinspection are:
- For residences and similar spaces: every 10 years
- For commercial spaces: every 5 years
- For entertainment and public gathering spaces and outdoor commercial installations: every 2 years
If the engineer signing the Licensed Electrician Certification Form deems it necessary for safety reasons, they may specify a shorter period for regular re-inspection, documenting the decision in the Form.
Emergency Electrical Installation Inspection
An emergency inspection is required in the event of a change of use or owner, significant modifications, accidents, or upon the order of the competent authority.
Electrical Installation Inspection Procedure
Inspections are carried out by qualified inspectors using certified equipment and include, indicatively:
- Visual inspection of the electrical installation
- Tests and measurements to confirm the proper functioning of protective devices and the quality of the installation and installed materials
- Test to verify the continuity of protective conductors and main and supplementary equipotel bonding conductors
- Measurement of insulation resistance of the installation, floor and wall resistance
- Testing of circuit separation in cases of SELV or PELV application and in cases of protection with electrical separation
- Polarity and operation check
